Nailed It!

So, as a mom-on-the go or sometimes mom-all-day-home-at the house, I have had to find quick and EASY fashion fixes!  A few days ago, I posted about watches and what a facelift it can give your outfit.  (Or who am I kidding?  My "jeans and husband's baggy shirt" combo), outfit-if you can even call it that.

Well, I recently hosted a party for Jamberry nails.  I had seen them before, and I knew you could win free hostess rewards, so I gave it a try.

Now, mind you, I have been thinking about going to the nail salon, meh and hair salon, for months...months, people.  I have yet to make it to either one.  First, I can't bring Eleanor to the salon.  And secondly, last time I went I dropped $75.  Now on a one-income budget, those trips don't happen eva.

Well, after watching the how to video twice (slow learner), I figured out how to apply the nails, and I am in L.O.V.E.
Don't they look amazing!?!

I have always loved having my nails painted, but messed them up so easily.  And then after putting down a chunk of change, the nails would chip off and look trashy.
Tricked ya!  The only Jamberry wrap is the one that doesn't look horrible a few days later.  Jamberry for the win!

It is the easy fashion fix I needed.  Even though there is spit up on my clothes and my hair is a wreck, my nails look good!

Having less time than ever, and with another baby on the way, I love the ease of Jamberry nails.  I'm sold!!  So sold, that I can now sell Jamberry.  (Basically, I just want to fund my addiction.)  If you want the hook up or want to support my addiction, let me know!

xoxo,
Angela

How to make your outfit do DOUBLE DUTY

If you know me at, I love frugal deals.  Sometimes it isn't always easy to find a great deal on an outfit, so when picking out an outfit, it is important to picture its versatility.
Red lace dress from Kohl's clearance rack $20!
Look #1: For hub's Christmas party, I paired the dress with black peep-toe heels, and a dainty long turquoise necklace and gold bracelets.
Look #2: For our date to Bass Hall to see Lyle Lovett and Robert Earl Keen, I paired the dress with a large turquoise bubble necklace, denim jacket, and brown riding boots.

Everything free is a scam, right?? Wrong!

I have been seeing advertisements all over the place for a free pair of glasses with Firmoo.  I was like no way am I going to be naive enough to be sucker into that scam.  I am here to tell you that it is the real deal, folks!

I have been needing glasses with a prescription forever, but I also know that glasses are a hot accessory to pair with any outfit.  When considering an outfit, I always try to find accessories that "make" the outfit.  Who knew that this whole time the biggest accessory has been right under my nose?!?  Or more accurately, right ON my nose!

The difference between the accessory of necklaces and the accessory of glasses is that necklaces compliment the outfit.  "Oh, that looks so cute!"  Glasses compliment the person wearing them.  "YOU look so good wearing those!"

Why not try on a couple pairs while you mull over this revelation???  Firmoo offers virtual try on.  You can upload a picture of yourself and "try" different glasses on before you make your purchase.  Just like in the store but way, way, way more inexpensive!

I have put off getting glasses for years, and, as a result, I haven't worn glasses out in public.  I can't wait to try out my glasses with my different outfits!  With so many different styles for such great prices, I can be whoever I want to be--a vintage movie star, sexy librarian, nerd school teacher, or modern fashionista.  Who will you choose to be?

Right now, Firmoo is offer a first free pair of glasses here.  You will have to pay shipping and handling, but that is like a pair of glasses for ten dollars.  As an accessory item that gets matched with so many different outfits, I don't know how you can get cheaper than that!

Bubble Necklace

This is the look I rocked for my friend's bacchelorette party a few weeks ago.  The colored jeans are from New York and Company's clearance rack for $11.  The shirt is from Dillard's New Year's Day sale for $5.  Black Blazer from Target for $15 but definitely worth it because I wear that blazer all the time!  Pink and orange heels $4 from Kohls.  Bubble Necklace and Purse gifted to me from relatives.

I also got another color necklace that I love just as much.  I paired it with a pair of black slacks and khaki lace shirt.  The necklace definitely makes the outfit!
Orange and Turquoise.  One of my favorite combinations.  I wore this to a casual dinner with my besties.  This is another post about my love for these colors and mixing it up in fashion.

Peplum Crush

I love this fashion trend, and I hope it stay around a while.   It accents the waist and helps create an hourglass figure.

In the first picture, they pair a peplum top with a pencil skirt.  I love this idea because sometimes, I am so over having to pull my skirt up or down or fix the top that is tucked in.

I love it as a bottom piece, too!  So many different styles and options for dressy or casual.

But, of course, my all time fav is when it is already all put together for you!

How to Get Tight-Guest Post

Read her post.  She is definitely very convincing.  I think I might have to buy a pair of tights after I get back from my trip.  If you enjoyed this post, go check out Ragan's blog.  She always has great pictures and fashion advice:)  Happy Thanksgiving's Eve.

On Colored Tights [and how they will change your life.]

hello friends! I am Ragan and I blog over at Touch of Serendipity. Sweet Angela asked me to share with ya'll today and I'm so happy to be here!

ok so. we all know that guest posts can be extremely boring.
which is why this is going to be short and sweet.

here's the punchline: get yourself some colored tights. They will change your life. here is photographic evidence:

cranberry tights - my most prized possession. (besides my engagement ring, right?)
images found here.

Secondly, mustard tights. because mustard is everyone's favorite color when it comes to panty hose, correct? oh sorry, these are tights.
images found here and here.

And last but not least, the purple tights. because who doesn't want purple legs? mmm sexy.
images found here.

colored tights are great if you
1.) want some fun in your wardrobe.
2.) need to cover up the fact that you haven't shaved your legs in a month.
3.) want to figured out how to spice up that plain black dress you have worn all week.
4.) all of the above.

So there you have it. that's my soap box. if you ever want a bit of snazz in your wardrobe, hop on over to Target because they have an awesome collection of colored tights right now. go to the colored tights aisle, pick out some cranberry, mustard, and purple colored tights, and knock yourself out.
you will feel like a new woman.

Which dress? Help me pick!

I got an email the other day from an online clothing company requesting me to do a fashion review on some of their merchandise.  I was floored and totally excited.  I have been looking for opportunities to review anything for a while.  (If you know of any other opportunities, let me in on your secret!)

So, I need to pick an an item to pick for my review and I am struggling, so here are my top three picks.  Tell me which one you like best,

Night bloomer strapless dress
#1   I love the color of this one!  It has pockets and fake large buttons in the back.  I will probably add straps, so I will feel more comfortable in it.
Coal miners daughter dress
#2  This is a cute pattern, I think it will accent all the right places.  Pockets also on this one.
Birds eye view dress
#3  This dress is so unique.  It has pockets as well and a scrunched waist in the back.

Winter Fashion Must-Haves -Guest Post

Last guest post for the week, but this is a great one to wrap up on.  Hey maybe you can use it as your shopping list for Black Friday!  Jess is a sweet girl with a fun blog--go check her out!  You won't be sorry!

I'm so excited to be guest posting for Angela today.I just love her blog, don't you?

I recently blogged about fall accessories you can buy at great values. I picked my favorite J.Crew jewelry pieces and found similar pieces at lower prices. I got such a great response that I knew I wanted to do something similar for winter accessories. When Angela put out the call for guest bloggers I knew you guys would love this. If you haven't read that post you can do so by clicking here.

This winter, it's all about having a luxe look. Anything textured, with fur (faux, of course!), sequins, or sheen is where it's at. I don't know about you, but there's something about being a sparkly snow bunny that appeals to me.

Here are a few of favorite winter luxe  items. The best part...you won't have to break the bank to get them. All these items are under $50!  So, you'll be able to buy gifts for your loved ones and have a little left over for yourself! My personal fave is the colorblocked heel or maybe the fur scarf! Who am I kidding? I love them all! Which ones do you love?

Pink Pants

On my huge shopping spree a few weeks ago, I found these pink capris at Dillards for $10.  Total Steal.

You all know, I love a good deal.  In the past, I struggled buying stuff just because it was on sale.  This actually would end up costing me more money in the long run because I would buy stuff that I didn't end up wearing.  Now when I go to the clearance rack, I try to picture in my head the many options that I could do with that article of clothing.  Sometimes, I spend more than I normally would for a piece of clothing because it is a good investment piece.

I love the pink pants, but I also like the combination on the top.  I am wearing a teal spaghetti strap top from New York and Company and a black sleeveless top over it.  In fact, I think everything on the top half of me is from New York and Company.  The jacket is a nice touch because I am always cold, but also because it pulls in at the smallest section of my body giving me an hourglass shape.

The one thing about this outfit I might change is the shoes, but my feet are killing me these days.  Any advice on shoes that are appropriate for work that aren't a a pain literally and figuratively?

Hot pants

Hot and dangerousIf you're one of us then roll with us'Cause we make the hipsters fall in loveWhen we got our hot pants on and up

My mother-in-law came last weekend, and she had these super cute red jeans.  I was like I want some colored jeans.  I had tried on a pair at Old Navy that totally did not fit, and I kinda ruled colored jeans out.  I found this pair on the clearance rack at New York and Company for ten dollars, ten dollars people!

I paired it with another shirt that I got at The Limited.  I don't normally shop at that store because it is too expensive for me, but I found this shirt on the clearance rack for 10 bucks.

I like the shirt because it has lace detail, but it doesn't take away from the colored pants.  I paired the outfit with my $5 dollar Steve Madden wedges.

I like this outfit so much I wore it twice last week.  Thankfully, I didn't see any of the same people:)

Have you jumped on the fashion bandwagon of colored jeans?  What do you pair them with?

Orange and Turquoise

Again, grace on the picture please.  Still haven't bought the full length mirror.  But I am not the point of the picture.  I want to talk about the color combinations.  I got this shirt last week at New York and Company  (love that place!).

Normally I would have paired the shirt with brown accessories to match my shoes; however, in an attempt to branch out, I decided to pair it with a turquoise necklace and earrings set I got from Charming Charlie's.

For the longest time, I could not do orange and blue with because they were my high school colors.  My bestest friend, Brittany, designed a room with this two colors, and it looks great.  I used it as inspiration for my outfit!
Brittany lives in Ohio, and her house is so stinking cute.  I would never have thought to put orange and turquoise together.

She found the pillows and used them for the inspiration for the rest of her room.  I think that is a smart idea, for sure!

Her and her husband, Tim, are super crafty and creative.  They found material that they liked and covered the crates under the coffee table and the lamp shades.

We have already informed Brittany that she will be coming down and decorating our house when we get one!  Thanks for the inspiration, Brittany!

What color combinations have you tried that aren't your normal?

Frugal Fashion

I love clothes! But I also love a good deal, and I  know how to find them!  I never understand why people pay full price for clothes, accessories, or shoes.  They just aren't worth it.  If the clothes were worth the price that they were originally marked, then they would never go on sale.  The outfit right here is a dress with a high waisted belt (What Not To Wear tip), the ruffles add a bit of fun texture, the colors are fun and pop, the skirt portion of the dress if fitted like a pencil skirt and show off my curves in a good way.  The shoes are surprisingly comfy.  Pretty much like a wedge.  My mom say this the other day at TJ Maxx.  For $5, how could I pass this up?  In years past, I would not have paired polka dots and floral, but it totally worked.  Plus, the shoes are so fun, and I got a lot of compliments at work.

This was another outfit I wore to work.  My friends Alice and Michelle had recommended a thrift store in Highland Village.  It's like Plato's Closet for adults.  Check them out! http://www.clothesmentor.com/  This super cute sweater was only $6!  And for those of you that care, all the clothes at the place are name brand.  The necklace I got a while ago and can't remember where, but I am sure it was on sale, too.  The white tank has small stitching detail on the top.  I got it from Ann Taylor Loft clearance rack a few years ago.  Now, the Sperrys...These do not fit into my normal purchases as they are much more expensive than I normally like to spend.  Poor Anthony has endured my pining over these for the last three year, if not longer.  These shoes would not go on sale, doggoneit!  I finally bit the bullet and purchased them.  I like them because they go with almost anything.  I can wear them with shorts, pants, casual skirts.  I would like to say that I love them, but sometimes they rub against my toes and heels:(  Does this happen to anyone else?  I have tried those dumb footy socks, too, and they won't stay on my feet.

If you are willing to spend the time looking through sale racks, you will find great deals.  Sometimes if I like something a lot, but don't love the price, I will return to the store a few weeks later to find it on the sale rack.  Score!

Where do you find your best deals?
