Impossible Taco Pie

Last year when my grandmother was visiting (actually it could have been several years ago), she taught me how to make the recipe.  It is such an easy recipe and is husband and father-in-law approved.

Impossible Taco Pie
Ingredients:
1 pound ground beef
1\2 C chopped onion
1 envelope taco seasoning
1 can (4 oz) chopped green chilies (drained)
1 1\4 C milk
3\4 C Bisquick (or any pancake mix)
3 eggs
2 tomatoes sliced (I have used canned)
1 C shredded cheese

Instructions:
1.  Grease pie plate
2.  Cook beef and onion (drain)
3.  Stir in taco seasoning
4.  Spread meat in plate top with chilies
5.  Beat milk, bisquick, and eggs until smooth
6.  Pour into pie plate
7.  Bake 25 minutes at 400 until knife comes out clean
8.  Top with tomatoes and cheese and put back into the oven until cheese is melted.

Enjoy!

How to make your outfit do DOUBLE DUTY

If you know me at, I love frugal deals.  Sometimes it isn't always easy to find a great deal on an outfit, so when picking out an outfit, it is important to picture its versatility.
Red lace dress from Kohl's clearance rack $20!
Look #1: For hub's Christmas party, I paired the dress with black peep-toe heels, and a dainty long turquoise necklace and gold bracelets.
Look #2: For our date to Bass Hall to see Lyle Lovett and Robert Earl Keen, I paired the dress with a large turquoise bubble necklace, denim jacket, and brown riding boots.

The Lord has been sweet!

Last fall hubs and I started a Bible study with high expectations for great friendships and accountability.  It didn't really pan out.  Maybe more on that later...

I recently started Bible Study Fellowship.  If you don't know what that is, is a group of ladies (they also have it for men, but they meet somewhere else) from different churches that come together once a week for Bible Study.  We are currently going through the curriculum for Genesis.  (They go through a different book each year.)  We sing a little, break into small groups to go over our weekly lesson, and listen to a sermon.

I highly recommend starting.  At the beginning of each month, they have a newbies class.  I thought I would be the only one, but surprisingly, there were about 5 other ladies.

If you know me at all, I struggle with anxiety of starting new things or meeting new people, but the Lord has been really gracious with BSF and has allowed me to feel right at home.

Small groups are also a hodge podge of people--old, young, married, single, pregnant, with children, without.  I appreciate hearing their different viewpoints from different stages of life.  Also, my grandmother and mom did this earlier in their lives, and in a way, I feel connected to them.

Just within the three weeks that I have been going I have been blessed to have the Lord recall to my mind spiritual truths throughout the day and week, to wrestle with understanding a truth in Scripture, to want to do my study throughout the week.  Yay God!

If you are currently not being poured into by other believers or having accountability, I definitely suggest you find a BSF in your area.

Purple People Eater

I wore this outfit a couple weeks ago.  I love it!  The skirt of the dress is teeny tiny pleats.  It has a tie around the waist accentuating the smallest part of my body.  Any outfit that I can put one of my bubble necklaces with, is a great outfit.  I could add this picture to my collection of bubble necklace outfits.  I paired it with my brown riding boots mostly because I needed to shave my legs, but I also need to find new shoes!
This dress is a small.  If you know me in real life, I am not a small by any means.  The dress fits great everywhere except for under the arm.  It rubs me:(  Maybe I can cut out a portion of it.  It was just too cute of a dress to pass up!

Pumpkin Waffle

I love fall!  Fortunately for me, I had some cans of leftover pumpkin.  SCORE!  Pumpkin waffles here we come!  I looked up a recipe a while ago, and it took me quite some time to find a recipe using an already made mix.  I thought I would share it with my lovely readers.

Pumpkin Waffle Recipe
Ingredients:
2 1\3 bisquick mix
1\2 C canned pumpkin
1 1\2C milk
1\4 C veg. oil
2 tspb. brown sugar
1 t. pumpkin pie spice
2 eggs
1\4 C chopped pecans

I also throw in some flax seeds for extra crunch.  Depending on your waffle maker, you may have to add more bisquick mix.  I love the pumpkin flavor, so I always add more canned pumpkin and more spice.

Hubs and I make waffles on the weekend.  When we are in a rush on the weekday mornings, we just grab a waffle to go.

Yum, yum!

Mystery Solved! Fish Found

Before you read this post, make sure you have read up on my fish dilemma here.

After weeks and weeks of searching for my lost fish (we even had a curious baby and a sniffing dog in the apartment), we have finally located the deceased.

Here is how it all went down:

Poor hubs fell asleep on the lazyboy.  So as to not raise the snoring beast, I went to bed.  A few hours latter he was in the bedroom rummaging around looking for his phone.  Being the good wifey that I am, I got up to help him look.

His phone was, of course, on mute.  After about 20 minutes of searching, we located his phone in the caverns of the chair.  We also located the volume remote, which had assumed was a goner.  While moving the chair back in place, I was shocked to discover my late beta fish on the carpet.

It has left me to conclude that the poor fellow had jumped out of his bowl and flopped and flopped and flopped around under the chair.

I bet he regretted that the second he decided to do that.

Everything free is a scam, right?? Wrong!

I have been seeing advertisements all over the place for a free pair of glasses with Firmoo.  I was like no way am I going to be naive enough to be sucker into that scam.  I am here to tell you that it is the real deal, folks!

I have been needing glasses with a prescription forever, but I also know that glasses are a hot accessory to pair with any outfit.  When considering an outfit, I always try to find accessories that "make" the outfit.  Who knew that this whole time the biggest accessory has been right under my nose?!?  Or more accurately, right ON my nose!

The difference between the accessory of necklaces and the accessory of glasses is that necklaces compliment the outfit.  "Oh, that looks so cute!"  Glasses compliment the person wearing them.  "YOU look so good wearing those!"

Why not try on a couple pairs while you mull over this revelation???  Firmoo offers virtual try on.  You can upload a picture of yourself and "try" different glasses on before you make your purchase.  Just like in the store but way, way, way more inexpensive!

I have put off getting glasses for years, and, as a result, I haven't worn glasses out in public.  I can't wait to try out my glasses with my different outfits!  With so many different styles for such great prices, I can be whoever I want to be--a vintage movie star, sexy librarian, nerd school teacher, or modern fashionista.  Who will you choose to be?

Right now, Firmoo is offer a first free pair of glasses here.  You will have to pay shipping and handling, but that is like a pair of glasses for ten dollars.  As an accessory item that gets matched with so many different outfits, I don't know how you can get cheaper than that!

Holiday Decorations aren't just for Christmas!

I love holidays!  I love holiday decor!  And I love a good deal!
I don't have a mantle, so I had my parents help me install a couple shelves in the kitchen and along the length of the hallway.  Now, I have a place to put all my decorations.

I found this banner when I searched for  free valentine printable.  I wanted to do something with burlap, but I didn't have anything in the house, and I didn't want to spend money.  Next best thing--crumpled up brown grocery bag.  I punched holes and strung it together.  It was a super fun project, and I love the way it turned out!

Right underneath my kitchen shelf, I have a black bookcase with these on top.  I found the plate  at the thrift store for 99 cents sitting on top of a plate stand that I also found at the thrift store for a buck.  The candle is wrapped in twine (left over from the fall decorations).

The heart plate on the left is from my sweet mother.  I made the one on the right at a  pottery place.  Isn't is gorgeous?!?!

Hanging and Banging outside my door.  It is bright and glittery, and helps my friends find my apartment since I no longer have my rotting pumpkins out there.

My grandmother saw this last night and commented that it looked like a sampler.  I guess subway art is like a modern day sampler.  There are so many creative people that make these and post them for free online.  All I have to do is print them off!

Love the owls!  I got this and the wreath on clearance last year at Target.  I know it is hard to wait until after the holiday to get the decorations, but, for me, it is so worth it!  If you can't wait, try going to the thrift store.

For my wedding, we used several large vases.  I had pinecones in them for  December and January.  I had popcorn kernels and candles in them for fall.  These flowers were on sale after Christmas.  They look great for Valentine's Day, but they also match my regular kitchen decor!

Pretty Muddy

I am participating in my first mud run this summer!  I would love for you to join in with me if you live in the DFW area.  5ks are great motivation to start running!  Or to pick up if you have put it on the back table.  The race in Dallas isn't until June 1st, so you have plenty of time to get ready.  Who is in?

Check it out here!

My goal is to run 8 miles this week.  What is your goal?

Hug it out

Hubs and I have had a rough week.  He is working super long hours.  I am stressed.  We don't see much of each other during the day or night for that matter.  And sometimes we get on each other's nerves.  But we do have a tactic to help relieve stress and help us laugh.

We "Hug it out."  What is that?  We have to hug for thirty seconds.  Sounds easy, but it is super hard to stay mad it each other that long.

Try it out.

You can check out the scientific reasoning here.

Happy Valentine's Week!
